Welcome Fellow Campers!

Howdy all!  You've come here because you saw this new page and wondered what it is, right?  Well, this is the page for the new Camp Promotion and Outdoor Activity committee.  Spring 2009 is fast approaching, and Packs, Troops and Crews need to get in gear and plan for those outdoor activities!  Need some help?  Some direction?  Look below and start with the Leave No Trace Award.  Cubs and Scouts alike can earn this temporary award and learn to camp and hike the right way.  See you on the trail!

Leave No Trace Award

Leave No Trace is a temporary award that both Cubs and Scouts can earn.  Click this logo
to take you to the page where the Cub Scout requirements are listed. If you're a Boy Scout or Scouter, click this logo
to take you to your requirements. This is a great award and lets everybody know that your unit cares about not only the values in Scouting but also our environment.

Roundtable

Roundtable is where we'll update folks on what's going on with the Committee. Have any great ideas? Share them with us! We hope to have a great year in Scouting, and hope you do too!

What is the Camp Promotion and Outdoor Committee?

First off, my name is Erik Rinish, and I've been asked by our District Staff to Chair the Camp Promotion and Outdoor committee.  Our primary goals are to:

  • Track each units camping and outdoor record
  • Implement the councils outdoor promotion plan
  • Promote use of camperships
  • Promote National Summertime Pack Award
  • Guide the Order of the Arrow to help promote camping in the district
  • With Commissioners, help packs, troops and crews plan year-round camping schedules
  • Give guidance on health and safety concerns
  • Promote youth participation in everything from Cub Day Camps to Scout High Adventure camping
So as you can see, we have a daunting task--to help everybody in the Canadian Valley District plan and enjoy the upcoming outdoor seasons.  We have a capable committee in place and are ready to assit any and all of you out there who need help in planing and implementing their outdoor objectives.
